Thank Friday… it’s Lavender Time!
We intended to have our Thank Friday it’s Lunchtime meal with Granny and The Niece on Wednesday, but unfortunately three if us were struck down with a tummy bug – lunch was off the menu!
Thursday was largely spent taking Granny and The Niece to The Airport (and continuing to recover from icky tummy bug), then another friend, Le Professeur, arrived late in the evening.
How about going on a lavender hunt, we suggested.
Great! was his reply.
After a light lunch, three of us piled into his little rental car and made for the Plateau de Valensole. I think we were a week too early to see the full glory of lavender in all its purpleness, but it’s still pretty good!

I’m still learning about my new Nikon 1, so they aren’t super-brilliant, but you get the idea.
But what about food? Thank Friday is all about food, isn’t it?
How about this? We bought ice creams in a supermarket in Valensole, parked the car at the side of a lavender field and ate them.
They were all good – being Häagen-Dazs! – but the Mango & Cream was deemed the winner.

Food : ✮✮✮✮✮ How can I give ice cream less than five stars?
Value : ✮✮✮✮✮ Excellent. No need to tip, either
Ambiance : ✮✮✮✮✮ Beside a lavender field? Does it get any better? Well, maybe…
