A Video Post

No, not a video of lavender fields – a video post for my horsey readers & friends back in Ireland.

I’ve edited 26 minutes of footage down to just over ten minutes and I’ve included the Good (lots of soft, relaxed work), the Bad (shoulder in!) and the Ugly (WTF am I doing with my hands every time we canter? And doing lateral work? ACK!  And OMG I’m like a sack of spuds every so often…)

Anyway, here it is.  Me, riding Aero.  Doing dressage.  With a twist.

  1. I love the video! Aero has super gaits and you have a lovely seat. I believe tête à mur is haunches in — and I find it much more difficult than shoulder fore. I am very impressed that you did all of that work in halter. Wow!

    • Thank you Annette! Aero is special – I’m going to have a rummage around and see if I can find any videos of Tansy riding him. They were so lovely together 😥
I can’t believe how happy he is working in the halter. I’ve a contemplative follow-up post planned – stay tuned x

    • I wouldn’t go as far as saying ‘absolutely brilliant’ but thanks! As for the school… it looks better than it is, but I swore 20 months ago that I would not turn into one of those liveries who moans and gripes about the arena so I’m not going to start now!
They’ve applied for permission to build an indoor – my fingers are tightly crossed.

  2. My goodness, but you ride so well. You make it look so effortless. I’m one of those folks who has to work at posting, for heaven’s sakes, and you…you make it look easy. Not to mention that lovely Aero. I kept expecting him to transition to a extended trot.
You depreciate yourself too much. You are a very good rider. And he is a very nice horse. (mind you, I’m a sucker for a deep bay)

lol…. I can really relate to this because it’s taken me so long to get used to Aero’s uber-bouncy trot! What got me there in the end? Yoga, swimming, increased levels of fitness and high levels of stubbornness and commitment!
Thank you for your kind comments. I’m really pleased with how much my seat has improved over the last 12 months but at the same time, I realise that I’m only a ‘club level’ rider, albeit perhaps a reasonably good club level rider. I admitted several years ago that the Olympics were unlikely to happen… sigh…

As for Aero, yes. He is very special. I’m going to nail that extended trot any day now.

    • RE: the Olympics…well, the Olympic caliber riders can rest easy-they won’t have to worry about ME any time soon 😉

Darn it, you just punctured my bubble. “”Yoga, swimming, increased levels of fitness..”
Oh, well, I’ll just have to accept that I can’t post.

Honestly, though, I, too, feel as if my seat has improved a huge amount. That is due to my riding bareback so much. I’m so much more comfortable, relaxed, balanced and quiet (hands) than I was a year ago.
